The redemption store employees even competed for the title of "S courtesy queen," chosen by customers who were asked to vote for the employee who provided them with the most courteous service. The Sperry Hutchinson Co., the stamps' distributor, made its money by selling the stamps to retailers. The trade off to the retailers was in customer loyalty, since customers frequented the stores that gave out the stamps.
