I ought to mention the fresh bread rolls, made on the premises, and the home made butters one honey, one garlic and a five spice which was unbelievably morish. A little thing which adds to the overall enjoyment of the visit.

Donna kept it simple with the main course too, ordering the Chicken Caesar from the bar menu. Ahandsome fresh, crisp leaf salad, home made croutons, anchovies, parmesan and a light dressing, not to mention tender slices of chicken. Again a simple dish enhanced with a little care, attention and imagination.
This was certainly the case for our lunchtime visit at the delightful inn which oozes character and backs onto the Nene.
Head chef Erran Buckingham has his eye on three rosettes, something only found in the big league, so there's no slacking. The standards have to be kept up, raised even.
